The Facade

Build: Athletic
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 186lbs
Skin Color:  White
Hair color: Brownish Red
Eye Color: Blue
Attire:

General:
Mason prefers to dress like he just got out of a formal party a loose tie with an open top button, wrinkled coat, loose belt. However, due to his upbringing his lackadaisical style is summarily replaced with a clean cut formal attire whenever he is working, as such a good indication of how serious he is taking something can be reflected on how composed his attire is. Though primarily attired in black, white, or grey he always wears some sort of purple accent generally either his tie or pocket square.

Extra-curricular activities (read below):
When Mason is out on one of his personal jobs he always wears a purple fox mask and purple contacts, over his general clothes he wears long patchwork black coat with a hood and a plethora of internal and external pockets that looks like it was ripped directly from the mind of C.S. Lewis.

Extra None

The Persona

Personality:
Masons personality is a bit tricky, bordering on the sociopathic he is a perfect chameleon adapting to his situation. In truth he is cold calculating and remorseless with no regard for human life. He is motivated by his desire for power and revenge, nothing not even his own life matters more than this driving force. Yet, he is in no way cruel he does everything with a purpose and conviction, he will kill, he will torture, he will deceive but never needlessly after all to do so would waste his precious time. However, this side of Mason is rarely seen and those few unfortunate enough to have observed it generally end up dead.

To the outside world he plays the role of a light hearted caring compatriot, friendly warm but maybe a little too lackadaisical he seems to take few things outside of his familial obligations seriously. He takes great pride in his abilities as a chef and musician spending sometimes hours or days and excepting nothing less than perfection on this front. A playful smile seems to permanently imprinted on his face though he struggles with other emotions particularly sadness and attempts to hide this flaw in his persona through humor.

In addition, Mason has slight kleptomania he loves stealing thing though places little value on wealth and affluence perhaps because he grew up with a nearly endless supply of both. As a result of this, outside of his work for the Jaegars, family obligations, and cooking Mason spends his nights in a fox mask stealing things normally of great value and always leaving a calling card a simple piece of paper with a purple eyed smiley face on it.

Family is probably the only true thing that truly effects Masons emotions, to the outside world his family is a tight knit group with great care for one another. However, Mason hates his older brother who inherited the family business the two are equally cold yet his brother is sadistic. Each brother has at one point or another attempted to kill the other but has been prevented from doing so by the risk of scandal, despite their differences both brothers have been trained to respect the family name.

Due to a childhood trauma he hates and fears spiders, the mere sight of them drives him into a fear induced rage which will not subside until the creature is dead and every part of it burned.

Fighting Style: Mason relies heavily on his teigu for combat using its powers to augment his ability as a marksmen and combat prowess with a bladed tonfa and kodachi. Relying on speed and guile he will often create traps, kill from a distance, and use sneak attacks though he is not unfamiliar with direct confrontation. In general he attempts to avoid close combat using his tonfa or sword primarily for defense or only for an ensured killing blow. Familiar with almost every form of fire arm in existence he prefers a pistols, uzis, or sniper rifles, though he is not above heavier fire power particularly he keeps himself stocked with a plethora of explosives ranging from grenades and smoke bombs to mines and plastic explosives. He’s also skilled  with almost every throwing weapon imaginable, he however will never use poisons as that’s what filthy spiders use.

Likes:
The color purple
Cooking
Stealing
Puzzles
Explosives
His tiegu

Dislikes:
Spiders
Anyone who gives up
Eel
Poorly prepared / stocked kitchens (tools not actual food)
Tanktops because they’re pointless

Fears:
Spiders due to traumatic childhood experience (This borders on a phobia)
His brother: A tactical genius his brother has outwitted him at every turn combined with his alliance with his uncle makes him an ever present threat.
His uncle: The man who trained him, his uncle taught him discipline through force despite his advanced years over a decade of beating and cruelty have instilled a deep fear of this man.

Motivations:
Mason loves the struggle he is constantly seeking a greater challenge and hates easy things. He fights for the challenge and to improve himself so eventually he can kill his brother and uncle. Though in self-analysis it is challenge and revenge that drives him, the truth is he is afraid, the unforgiving nature of his upbringing has instilled a deep fear of failure but at the same time an overwhelming desire for it. As such, he desperately wishes to fail so that he can finally stop trying but is unable to do so.

Extra:
Mild kleptomania

The Past

History:

Mason is the second son of the Carlyle family, an ancient group which can trace its lineage back to the very founding of the empire. Originally merchants and bankers it is rumored the Carlyle family was one of the major bank rollers behind imperial arms and may even have a distant blood relation to the imperial family though the validity of this claim has never been tested. Over the years, the family changed from honest businessmen to a Mafioso style clan, every member of the main family is a loyal subject to the empire generally with strong military ties and are imperial arms user (traditionally one of three teigu handed down through the generations). This is due to the fact that a child born in the main family is given an imperial arm as a youth, failure to demonstrate compatibility is considered an embarrassment to the family. This was the case with Masons younger brother who was disowned and summarily executed, though the official story is that he died to a childhood malady. The teigu which rejected him was returned to its original owner his uncle.

Cold and disconnected Masons father never showed much affection towards his children instead he handed them off to his brother to train. Masons uncle had always wished to be head of the family and took his frustration out on the two young children. Charged with their tutelage, his training was nothing short of a barbaric boot camp combined with battle strategy, espionage and torture resistance training. Both brothers quickly learned to rely only on themselves and their teigu, constant competition, often for the privilege of food, quickly dissolved any brotherly ties between them. Of all the people in his family Mason felt closest to his mother the only one to show him compassion.

When Mason was fourteen his brother was recalled from the army to take over the family business his father having passed in the night. During this transitional period Masons mother took him for a trip in the mountains which ended in tragedy as they were attacked by arachnid type dangerous beast which killed his mother and left Mason stranded in a forest filled with its kind. It took Mason two years to escape this hellish experience relying on his teigu to survive he was eventually discovered half-dead at the entrance to a village, nearly one hundred miles from where his mother had been killed.

Returning to his ancestral home Mason at first felt relief, however he quickly learned that the tragedy that had befallen him was no accident, his mother had taken him there on his brothers orders with the intent to leave him die. Since Mason had inherited his fathers’ teigu his brother and uncle had worried the line of ascension may be contested as such they charged his mother with his death. Upon learning of this Mason confronted his brother and uncle with the intent to kill them, only to end up bound bloodied and near dead. Only left alive as it would reflect poorly on the family if he was killed right after being given a clean bill of health, knowing that it would only be a matter of time before his brother had him killed in an “accident” Mason publicly announced his intention to head north in search of new trade routes for the empire.

Out of the capital Mason abandoned his name joining a group of mercenaries under the assumed identity of Giddian Faust (the purple fox) while a hired proxy went north posing as him on the obviously futile mission. Free from the prying eyes of his family, Mason excelled as a mercenary acting primarily as a spy/assassin for hire. Years passed and Mason rose to a position of affluence and acclaim in the group earning the trust of his superior and the respect of his subordinates, when the revolutionary war broke out the commander of the group sympathized with the revolutionary army pledging the group to the cause. Seeing this as an opportunity, Mason carefully studied the group his position gaining him access to battle plans before a critical military encounter. In the meantime, having sent an assassin north to take care of his proxy, he joined the imperial army giving his real name knowing it would take time to reach his brother. When the two groups finally clashed, he used his fore knowledge of the enemy battle plan to decisively contribute to the imperial victory. With his entire former mercenary group dead, many by his own hand, he secured his place as an invaluable asset to the imperial army combined with the benefits of his family name this lead to a meteoric rise in the rank. By the time his brother had learned of his return to the capital, he had been elected to join the Jaegars and as such his death would be an embarrassment to the family. Returning to the capital the brothers publicly embraced one another as old friends both contemplating how to kill the other.

It was on the frontlines that Mason made a name for himself nearly a decade in the thick of battle ended with him as the reported sole survivor of a puritan victory. However known only to him there actual were two survivors, him and his superior officer, a friend who had trained him and fought besides him. Unfortunately, Mason knew that as the sole survivor of a major military victory he would be granted any position he wished primarily one in the capital with enough accolades that even his brother couldn’t prevent it, bringing him one step closer to the ultimate challenge of taking over the family. Thus a single stroke of his blade made him the only one left standing, and the newest member of an elite force known as the Jaegars.

Due to the nature that this is another revolution that is just starting. Mason cannot have been in the thick of battle for a decade. Please correct this as soon as possible. I will give it another reading and be glad to approve you. ^_^
